211.0, down from yesterday's 211.25.
I'm losing fat now, and building muscle. Thus, the scale is slowing down. Following the Diet Center program, I generally lose about 2 lb per week on average, or 10 lb per month, which is healthy and sustainable.
According to my trainer, losing 20 lb over 10 weeks will NOT win the challenge at the gym. There are those who do this challenge and lose about 60 lb in 10 weeks. That is NOT sustainable, nor is it healthy. That kind of loss will gain the weight right back. But they win the big bucks. Me, I'll win increased health. So who's the ultimate big winner?
Nancy Delain's journey through losing approximately 100 pounds. This blog provides accountability and contains my observations, my thoughts, my feelings on losing the weight I've lugged around for too long.

Weighing In 9/7/2018
I missed writing here yesterday; I weighed 212.0.
Today, I’m down 0.75 lb, weighing in at 211.25.
I joined Darryl’s Team for a weight-loss/body transformation challenge at the gym. It’s a 10-week challenge that will get my achy old body moving more than I do, and will increase my membership level to the max for the duration. I weigh in there on Tuesday morning. In 10 weeks, I should, theoretically, be down 20 lb. That’s the goal; that and deleting some of the pain in my hips....

212.0, down from yesterday's 212.75.
The water weight is clearly almost all off and the weight loss will slow down to a crawl as I lose fat rather than water.
Yesterday was a scheduling disaster. Breakfast and lunch were fine, and water intake was fine. But I ended up working in my office until 9:15, which put me home at 9:45, which gave me dinner at 10 pm. I can't do that again; I ended up being hungry by 8 pm. I need to get food for the office that I can eat for dinner in such times. Some canned shrimp will be good, and I can get veggies as I need them from the Price Chopper or Walmart that are nearby.
Dinner last night was delicious, though. Chicken and summer squash from the garden, stir fried with apple chunks and rosemary leaves. I did not eat a salad last night; had one of those for lunch. A bran muffin was dessert. So NICE to eat food I grew myself!!
Gotta get a shower before I start eating and drinking today.

Weighing In 9/4/2018
212.75, down from yesterday's 214.75.
I'm back to the weight I was when last I blogged this weight loss. Told ya it wouldn't take me long!
Today is Day 2 of the Reducing Diet. I am not hungry and I certainly am not thirsty. I will take my lunch and snacks to work with me today; lunch will be salmon and salad; snacks will be 2 apples and 2 oranges. Dinner tonight will be chicken and summer squash from the garden. I had a jalapeƱo pepper with that squash last night, also from the garden; those peppers are HOT.
I have water at the office and will drink that. All. Day. Long.

Weighing In 9/3/2018
I'm at 214.75, down 2.25 lb from yesterday's 217.
This rapid loss is lovely, but it's all water at this point. I've been peeing approximately once every 15 minutes. That will end, and water will stabilize, and weight loss will go to losing fat, which is much slower than is losing water.
I'm getting a late start today; it's 11 a.m. and I haven't yet eaten anything. Gotta go eat before I shake the house down!
Bran muffin
Water x 4
Apple or Orange
Wasa bread slice
That will bring me up to where I should be in the day ... oh, and it will fill me up.
Lunch today will be yesterday's chicken with apple (I cooked 2) with a large leafy salad. Snack will be another Wasa bread slice and another piece of fruit. Dinner will be a large leafy shrimp salad and another Wasa bread slice. Snack is a piece of fruit. And the ever-present water will be on tap for all eating sessions.

Weighing In 9/2/2018
Day 2 of the Diet Center's Conditioning Diet, and I'm down a pound, 217 down from yesterday's 218. This is, of course, all water. This part of the diet diureses the body. I spent yesterday peeing and will spend today peeing.
Tomorrow starts the Reducing Diet. The Conditioning Diet is a total pig-out; I couldn't eat everything they want me to eat yesterday, and that's fine. Tomorrow, though, starts the 1000-1200 calorie/day thing, and I frankly do get hungry on that. It's all a matter of timing, though; I need to eat throughout the day. The difference is that I eat rabbit food throughout the day; unlimited green leafy veggies, a bit of protein, a couple of pieces of fruit. And, of course, lotsa lotsa water.
Gotta go get started on today's pig-out!

Weighing In 9/1/2018
It's been a year and two days since I last posted here. I've done a decent job of maintaining my weight for that year; I'm at 218 pounds this morning, having pigged out on sushi yesterday (thanks to my brother who came to hang out for a couple of hours and took me to lunch) and pizza and ice cream for the last two days (my brother had nothing to do with those). Last time I posted, on 8/30/2017, I was at 212.75, and I will be there again very soon.
I'm still going to the gym at least once per week, and the same personal trainer is still kicking my butt. I think that's how I am maintaining my weight, quite frankly.
It's time. I'm done maintaining. Today I restart the old Diet Center weight loss routine, and I become answerable to this blog again. It's called "accountability."
The goal is to lose 50 pounds (putting me at 168 lb) by the time I go to Egypt in February. It's the healthy thing to do. Eventually, I'll go down another 20, and that will be my final goal weight. Imagine my weighing less than 150 ... haven't been there in decades.
I'll post measurements as I start the Reducing Diet on the day after tomorrow, then again on the first day of each month.
