This blog has been inactive for ... several years. Well, it's long past time to jumpstart it again. The weight-loss project described then has gone up and down; right now it's up, but I'm doing something about that. In fact, I must go get breakfast, which will consist of oatmeal with almond milk this morning; I'm getting foods out of the kitchen. When I finish the oatmeal, I will not restock it. Rather, breakfast will be a bran pancake (flavored up with cinnamon and/or nutmeg and sweetener) and a glass of lemon water. Lunch varies between chicken and fish, always with veggies. Dinner is either chicken or fish (whatever I didn't have for lunch) and veggies. I don't eat a lot of fruit, but I do eat at least an apple every day. And, the kicker, I try to maintain an appropriate schedule for eating.
This past week, I've veered off the plan. I have string cheese in my bottom drawer in the fridge and will finish that off. I won't restock it. I have oatmeal; I'll finish that off and not restock it. Neither is terrible, but neither is on the plan, and I do best when I follow the plan.
I'm following my tried-and-true Diet Center® books. I was a client there in the early 1980s, and I kept the books because I always feel good when I follow that program, although I do modify it to include cold-water non-white fish (gotta get those Ω-3 fatty acids) and a nice cut of steak (NY Strip is best) once in awhile. Yes, I get hungry (I think that a diet that advertises that "You'll Never Get Hungry" is totally a lie), but I eat enough and I lose weight at a great pace on it (about 1-2 pounds per week). So far, 10 pounds are gone -- in half a month. That, of course, is the result of losing water weight (I was puffy; I'm not puffy anymore).
