Since I started, as of today I've lost 16 pounds ... with much more to go, I am on my way.
I eat normal food; yesterday was the first time since I started that I substituted a shake for a meal, and I only did that because I was running very short on time. Breakfast usually consists of something eggy — over easy fried eggs, scrambled eggs, a bran-egg pancake (my favorite), like that. Lunch is usually a green leafy salad with something proteinaceous, maybe canned shrimp or crab or fresh fish. Dinner is usually a cooked veggie and a protein such as chicken or, rarely, lamb (maybe I'll have lamb tonight...). Snacks (and yes, I do eat snacks) are fresh fruit. And LOTS of good ol' H2O. I mix a bit of lime or lemon juice in with mine; just plain water is boring.
I packed the weight on over the course of my middle age, and especially this past year since Jim passed on; it's time to take it off. I'm starting to see health consequences of obesity, and I am not willing to deal with the ravages of these particular consequences. These are lifestyle-related problems and they can be pretty much fixed by changing the lifestyle.
